Twin Flames and the Fear of Losing Independence

Twin flames are believed to be two halves of the same soul, separated and destined to reunite transformatively. When the pair meets, they experience an overwhelming sense of familiarity and an instant, often inexplicable connection.

However, because of the intensity of this connection, twin flames often go through periods of separation and reunion, commonly referred to as the “runner and chaser” dynamic.

One of the underlying reasons for the runner’s behavior may be the fear of losing independence — a fear that can be deeply rooted in both individuals.

Fear of Losing Independence

Independence is a core aspect of personal identity; it represents our ability to make choices, pursue our goals, and live our lives according to our values and desires.

For many people, the idea of merging with another person so completely, as is often the case with twin flames, can be both exhilarating and terrifying.

The fear of losing one’s independence in a twin flame relationship is not just about the fear of losing physical or emotional space but also about the fear of losing oneself.
